Un one man show o\u00f9 le com\u00e9dien troubadour endosse tous les r\u00f4les, convoque l’\u00e9lectro et le slam, passe du conte \u00e0 la balade, du comique au frisson. Avec une sobri\u00e9t\u00e9 de moyens tr\u00e8s heureuse.<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Guitare noire et \u0153il narquois, Philippe Nicaud entonne \u00ab\u00a0Once upon a time Macbeth\u00a0\u00bb sous les voutes du th\u00e9\u00e2tre Essaion. En 40 apr\u00e8s l’an 1 000 l’\u00c9cosse est en guerre. Macbeth et Banquo traversent la lande pour rejoindre le roi Duncan. La pi\u00e8ce respecte la chronologie du drame shakespearien mais en fait un kal\u00e9idoscope. Le com\u00e9dien troubadour joue en effet sur une vaste palette : du mine \u00e0 la balade, du grotesque au frisson. Et passe d’un registre \u00e0 l’autre avec une \u00e9nergie aussi fluide qu’\u00e9l\u00e9gante.<\/p>\n\n\n

Macbeth avance donc dans la lande et rencontre les trois filles du destin. Philippe Nicaud en fait des corbeaux sautant et croassant. Les sorci\u00e8res caqu\u00e8tent leurs pr\u00e9sages. Avec la malice joueuse d’une gargouille et un talent certain pour le bruitage, Philippe Nicaud annonce que Macbeth sera d’abord prince de Cawdor puis roi d’\u00c9cosse sans descendant tandis que le fils de son ami Banquo r\u00e8gnera. Ces pr\u00e9dictions obscures allument le feu destructeur de l’ambition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Philippe Nicaud fait dans la sobri\u00e9t\u00e9. Et c’est heureux. \u00c9clairage, couronne-passoire qui \u00e9voque celle des fous, tabouret-ch\u00e2teau, serpilli\u00e8re-spectre, couteau arme et arbre et surtout drap noir. Le com\u00e9dien s’en drape comme d’une seconde peau et devient sorci\u00e8re. Nouvelle m\u00e9tamorphe \u00e9clair et voici Lady Macbeth. Froide tentatrice tout d’abord puis esprit hallucin\u00e9.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Le Macbeth de Philippe Nicaud suit des rythmes. Des alternances bien dos\u00e9es de comique et d’effroi. Avec notamment une distribution de chapeau pointus, chapeau de f\u00eate-chapeau de fou. Car parfois les deux se confondent. H\u00e9sitant mais pouss\u00e9 par sa femme, Macbeth assassine le roi puis son ami Banquo. Rong\u00e9 par la culpabilit\u00e9, il voit son spectre au banquet de couronnement. Le com\u00e9dien orchestre alors un d\u00e9lire hallucinatoire autour d’une serpill\u00e8re. Plus loin, une autre trouvaille, proph\u00e9tique cette fois-ci, avec un couteau qui annonce les guerriers aux branches d’arbres qui renverseront le roi r\u00e9gicide. Le comique c\u00f4toie le troublant. On passe \u00e0 l’effroi avec les hallucinations de Lady Macbeth qui tente d’effacer les traces de sang sur le sol et les taches r\u00e9gicides sur ses mains.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

La sc\u00e8ne est minuscule mais Philippe Nicaud restitue l’espace d’un ch\u00e2teau en se collant aux murs, en occupant chaque recoin. Il ouvre et habite \u00e9galement l’espace avec la musique. Balade, folk flamenco, slam, \u00e9lectro scandent comme un ch\u0153ur antique les noirceurs de l’ambition et la folie les hommes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

La pi\u00e8ce va \u00eatre jou\u00e9e pour la troisi\u00e8me ann\u00e9e cons\u00e9cutive au festival Off d’Avignon. Elle reviendra ensuite \u00e0 Paris. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
